Back to PortfolioIPPF: Co-creating Youth Sexuality Education
ARUBA · RESEARCH AND CO-CREATION, CREATIVE ADVOCACY
Overview
In partnership with IPPF and Famia Planea Aruba (FPA), I designed and facilitated an 18-month co-creative process with young people aged 14–17 in Aruba. Using arts-based approaches including zine-making, collage, and storytelling, we worked together to develop culturally relevant sexuality education materials.
My Role
Lead facilitator and co-design specialist. The research outputs have fed into FPA’s sexuality education strategy (serving 93% of schools in Aruba) and IPPF Global’s youth engagement strategy.
I also co-hosted dissemination events focusing on how to work with young people in co-creative environments, reaching sexual and reproductive health practitioners from 17 countries.
Outputs and Media
The young creators developed a sexuality education zine Amor Propio (meaning self love in Papiamento). This project formed the basis of my doctorate research.
